The logical phases and project activities are:

  • Requirements analysis and similar solutions. In this phase we analyze existing platforms for Big Data real time processing and draw the requirements imposed by Smart Cities Applications. The technical requirements are identified in this phase;
    • T1. Smart Cities application requirements;
    • T2. Critical analysis of Big Data real-time processing solutions;
    • T3. Technical requirements analysis.
  • DataWay Platform Architecture Design and Implementation. In this phase, based on identified requirements and state-of-the-art analysis, we design the DataWay architecture and all tools that well be implemented.
    • T4. Critical analysis of Big Data real-time processing solutions;
    • T5. Self-optimization Data management;
    • T6. Real-time scheduling and processing platform;
    • T7. Reduction and cleaning methods for real-time analytics;
    • T8. Pattern recognition and pattern extraction;
    • T9. System integration, feasibility tests and validation.
  • Dissemination and Exploitation. This phase will describe an exploitation plan and business plan, by identifying the suitable market. The international dissemination of results in well-established conferences and high ranked journals (with ISI impact factor) will be considered. Because we have already experience in the project area, we can start the preparation of exploitation plan and the dissemination of result from the first month of the project.

    • T12. Smart City collaborative services;
    • T13. Dissemination of project results.
  • Project Management. The Principal Investigator is responsible with project management, being responsible with potential risks and the approaches for mitigation these risks. The Principal Investigator continuously controls the overall project plan, its milestones and critical paths. Thus, it will be possible to initiate counter measures before a problem becomes critical.

The major milestones of the project are:

  • Review of the State of the Art concerning scientific and technical solutions, standards and other projects (M7);
  • Functional and Technical requirements of DataWay platform (M7);
  • Modular architecture for the DataWay framework and relation/interconnection between DataWay modules (M18);
  • Integration methodology of designed modules (M19);
  • Validation and performance evaluation methodology for DataWay platform (M24)
  • Scientific Workshop and Journal Special Issue (M19);
  • Final report completed and submitted (M24).
